New Fun Gadget For Diving

I picked up a new "gadget" for my diving rig: A DPV, or Diver Propulsion Vehicle. My friend Tina calls it a "toy", I like to think of it as a "gadget" - you be the judge. :-)

Looks a little something like this:

A diver would hold this out in front and squeeze both triggers, the propeller would activate and essentially propel the diver forward effortlessly through the water.

With diving being so relaxing, these DPVs add a new element of relaxation to the experience, while also adding a bit of fun since they are quite a blast to dive with.

I took mine out last week and had a lot of fun with it, but ran into a little issue toward the end of my dive. I had a bit of line (string) dangling off my BCD (buoyancy control device, the vest we wear that the tank straps onto, for my non-diver friends) and it became entangled in the propeller. Oops.

Needless to say it was a bit of a process to get the line untangled, but I did it and reassembled the unit, so all is well. I'm looking forward to taking this out for another dive soon. During the process of doing this little repair, I noticed something odd about the construction of the device. I thought I'd make a video about that and a few other things about the unit that weren't mentioned in the manual. If you're not into diving it may not be all that interesting, but I thought I'd include it here since it's relevant, but I also like to have my YouTube videos here on the blog too.
